An Engagement Session with Dalton & Lizzie

I had the pleasure of working with Dalton and Lizzie for their engagement session, and there’s something about them that immediately takes you back in time. They have that “old feel” about their love—the kind that isn’t common anymore, the kind that draws you in without even trying.

The best way I can describe it? It’s like the love story in Pearl Harbor meets The Notebook. Dalton carries that strong, masculine presence, while Lizzie is petite, graceful, and radiant. Their styles fall into step with each other so effortlessly, their connection is seamless, flowing as though it was always meant to be—strong, steady, and beautiful. And if you catch even a glimpse of the way they look at each other, you don’t need to know them to feel it.

We wanted to choose a location that held meaning for them both, and first on the list was Oxford. Their love for Ole Miss is something they share deeply, but as fate would have it, we booked their session on a home game weekend. And if you’ve ever been to Oxford in the South on a game day—you know. There was no chance of weaving through that crowd with cameras in hand!

So instead, we shifted to something a little quieter, more personal, yet just as meaningful: the quaint little town of Water Valley. Months later, this same town would host their rehearsal dinner, which made it even more special.

The afternoon light was golden, casting that soft summer glow across the brick storefronts downtown. Lizzie floated in a stunning sundress that seemed made for the evening, while Dalton, in khakis and boots, carried her hand with that natural ease. Like most men, he moved quickly through poses, wanting to “get it done,” while Lizzie soaked in every moment, glowing with joy.

Water Valley has its own charm—you always feel like a guest in a town where everyone knows each other. And if they don’t know you, well, they’ll still make sure you know they know each other. At one point, as Dalton leaned into Lizzie for a kiss, teeth almost touching, a truck rolled by. A young guy leaned out the window, hollering playful “lovebird” shouts at them. The moment felt straight out of a Hallmark movie, complete with laughter and blushes.

We ended their session at the town’s gazebo, capturing blurred backgrounds of historic structures behind them. It was the perfect finale to a day filled with romance, laughter, and little pieces of their love story tucked into every frame.

And this session was just a glimpse of what was ahead, Dalton and Lizzie’s love story will be one for the ages—timeless, radiant, and beautifully their own
