Monday Mornings & New Beginnings: My First Blog Release
Let’s talk Mondays, photography, and… blogs!
Monday mornings hit hard, don’t they? The alarm clock goes off and, for a split second, my whole body cringes from that half-asleep state. But once I push through those first moments, the day opens up into something beautiful. Mornings are actually my favorite time of the whole day. I’m fresh, I’m clear-headed, and not yet worn down by the busy pace that creeps in after lunch.
So, I have to ask — what’s your Monday survival tool? Coffee? Loaded tea? Cold brew with extra whip and caramel? Mine is simple but strong: at least three cups of Colombian coffee with two packets of stevia. By the time that third cup hits, the eyelids lift, the energy comes alive, and the day feels possible again. Truly a small miracle.
☕️ Now, onto something that gives me just as much life as coffee — photography.
My style has shifted and grown over the years, but one thing has remained steady: my longing to create images that tell a story. I love being able to look back at a photo and feel the moment all over again. Maybe it’s my passion for writing and storytelling merging with photography, but that’s what drives me — not just a picture, but a memory you can feel.
Here’s my best advice if you want photos like that:
Stop showing up as if it’s “picture day.” Instead, show up ready to live in the moment. The most meaningful images aren’t stiff or overly posed — they’re real. A crying child who settles into laughter, a four-year-old running circles around mom and dad, a sweet pause in between the chaos — these are the moments worth remembering. Parenthood, after all, is fleeting.
A few quick rules that always help:
🚫 No naps in the car right before (groggy kids don’t want to play).
🚫 No sweets until after the session (save the bribery for later).
🚫 No gum, and no sunglasses (they hide too much!).
Beyond that, just come as you. The best sessions happen when families relax and let life unfold naturally.
And now, about this whole blog thing. 🎉
If you’re reading this, you’re likely seeing the very first post on my photography blog. Today feels like my “official launch,” and I couldn’t be more excited. I created this space as an extension of my photography — a place where I can share not just images, but the stories and heart behind them.
Here, you’ll find a mix of personal stories, devotionals, session highlights, and even tips to help make your photography experience smoother. My hope is that this blog gives you a deeper sense of who I am, what drives my work, and what to expect if you ever book a session with me. And even if you never do, I hope you leave with inspiration, encouragement, or simply a smile.
Today is a new beginning, and I’m so thankful you’re here for it.
Check out the store for available sessions and booking links, also for custom framed images that are available for purchase.
